I am a 26 year old computer science student at the University of California, San Diego, applying my skills in the field of web design and development. I enjoy user interface design, standards compliance and usability. I also love ambient music, the culinary arts, fine cigars, museums and ultimate lounging.
A Fascination for Computer Hardware
My fascination for computer hardware started over a decade ago. It has led me to build many custom built PC’s for friends and family. I have spent time working as an A+ Certified Computer Support Technician, and I love helping others enjoy their computers. During the last few years, I have stepped into a newly found passion for the Mac. I strongly feel that “it’s more expensive, but just so much better.”
A Passion for Graphics and Code
I spent an extra year in college taking every computer graphics course possible. In the end, it finally consisted of: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, 3D animation in Cinema 4D, video editing and CGI in Adobe AfterEffects and print design in Quark XPress and InDesign. I really enjoy working with design and computer graphics, and as a result, programming and writing code for the web has become an integral way of expressing my talent.
It’s Not Just Work…It’s Recreation!
I am truly blessed to work in such a wonderful trade. Web design, graphics and programming are my passion. I gained much of my experience working for three years on the design team at a well known graphic design studio. I have spent a year as lead developer for a major company in the construction industry. Other endeavors have consisted of positions working for creative arts journals, writing, photography and web design for both profit and non-profit organizations. I like to attend Adobe conferences whenever possible, and I try to make it to the Gutenberg Festival (now known as PrintFest) each year. I currently would like to get more involved in music and film.
That’s it for now, but feel free to learn more about web design and technology by reading some of my blog posts.
All my best!
Daryl Auclair
